Choo Shin-soo of Rangers shows confidence [2015/10/22 09:43]

South Korean outfielder Choo Shin-soo of the Texas Rangers said on Oct. 6 that his team -- the American League (AL) West champions -- can come out victorious in the upcoming Major League Baseball playoff series.

At a meeting with reporters at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Choo said the Rangers planned to travel north of the border to face the Toronto Blue Jays in the best-of-five AL Division Series starting Oct. 8.

The Jays, the AL East champs, will host the first two games and then the Rangers will return home for the third and, if necessary, fourth games.

Choo, the AL Player of the Month for September, is scheduled to make his second postseason appearance.

Choo, who has homered in 27 big league parks, is yet to hit a homer in Toronto. He said he’d like to add the Rogers Centre to the list of big league parks where he has homered.

“Toronto is obviously a great team with a solid pitching staff, but we’ve also worked hard to get here,” he said. “We’ve worked our way up from the bottom to win the AL West title. I think we have the strength to keep going.”

Choo, born in July 1982, made his Major League Baseball debut with the Seattle Marines and also played for Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds before joining the Texas Rangers.
